How It Works
You don't need to have everything figured out before reaching out. That's exactly what the consultation is for.

You Don't Need to Have Everything Figured Out
If you have not worked with an attorney before, you may not know what to expect. That is completely normal. My goal is to make the process clear and comfortable from the very beginning.
Below is what working together typically looks like — from the first phone call through to moving forward on your situation. Every step is designed around you.
“This is a conversation, not a test. You can share as much or as little as you’re comfortable with.”
- No judgment — every situation is different
- No pressure to hire an attorney
- Confidential from the very first call
- Calls returned same day or next business day
The Four-Step Process
From your first outreach to moving forward together — here is how the process works, clearly laid out so there are no surprises.
Schedule a Consultation
The first step is simply reaching out. You can call or email to set up a time to talk. We'll find a time that works for your schedule — there's no rush and no pressure.
We Talk Through Your Situation
During the consultation, we'll talk through what is going on. Share as much or as little as you are comfortable with. I will listen, ask a few questions, and make sure I understand what you are dealing with. This is a conversation, not a test.
I Outline Your Options
Once I understand your situation, I will walk you through your options in plain English. I'll explain what each path may look like, and if there are risks or important decisions, we'll talk through those together. My goal is for you to leave with a clear picture of where things stand.
We Move Forward Together
If you decide to move forward, we will take the next steps together. I will handle the legal side of things and keep you informed along the way, so you are never left wondering what is happening with your case. No surprises — just steady, clear progress.
Questions People Often Ask
If you're not sure whether to reach out, or what to say when you do — these are the questions I hear most often. If yours isn't here, just call and ask.
Do I need to know what kind of legal help I need before calling?
Not at all. Many people reach out without a clear picture of what kind of help they need —
that’s exactly what the consultation is for. You can describe your situation in plain terms and
we’ll figure out the right approach together. What happens during the consultation?
The consultation is a straightforward conversation. You share what’s going on — as much or as little as you’re comfortable with — and I listen carefully and ask a few questions to make sure I understand your situation. From there I’ll walk you through your options in plain English, explain what each path might look like, and answer any questions you have. There’s no pressure and no obligation. My goal is simply for you to leave with a clear picture of where things stand.
Do I have to hire you after the consultation?
Absolutely not. The consultation carries no obligation whatsoever. Not every situation requires hiring an attorney, and that is completely okay. Even if you decide not to move forward, you’ll walk away with a better understanding of your situation and what your options are. If you do decide you’d like help, we’ll talk through next steps together at that point — no pressure, no rush.
How quickly will you get back to me?
I return calls and messages the same day or the next business day. If you call and I’m unavailable, leave a voicemail and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can. If you send an email or fill out the contact form, you’ll typically hear back within one business day. You won’t be left wondering — I make it a point to respond promptly because I know that when something legal comes up, waiting around for answers is the last thing you need.
What if my situation requires more research before you can help?
That’s completely normal, and I’ll be straight with you about it. Some situations are straightforward; others need a closer look before I can give you a reliable answer. If that’s the case, I’ll tell you so during our conversation rather than giving you something vague or misleading. I’d rather take the time to get it right than rush an answer that doesn’t actually help you. I’ll let you know what I need to look into and follow up as soon as I have something useful to share.
Do you serve my county?
The practice is based in New Tazewell and serves individuals, families, and small businesses throughout East Tennessee — including Claiborne, Union, Hancock, Grainger, Campbell, Hawkins, and Scott counties, as well as surrounding communities. If you’re not sure whether I can help with your specific situation or location, the easiest thing to do is just reach out and ask. I’ll give you a straight answer.
